The 3rd International Conference on Engineering Sciences and Energy (3ICESE) and the 5th International Conference on Geotechnical Engineering (ICGE–Iraq 2025) will be held from 1–3 July 2025, jointly hosted by Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU, Russia) and Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST, Sulaymaniyah, Iraq).

This major dual event represents the next milestone in the Russia–Iraq scientific and engineering alliance, bringing together leading experts from 28 universities and research centers across eight countries, including Russia, Iraq, China, India, and the United States.

A Shared Platform for Innovation

The first two days, 1–2 July, will take place in St. Petersburg, Russia, at SPbPU — one of the country’s foremost centers for civil, energy, and digital engineering. On 3 July, the conferences will continue in hybrid format at Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST) in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, allowing remote participation for researchers worldwide.

Together, the two conferences aim to strengthen collaboration in geotechnical engineering, civil construction, energy systems, and sustainable technologies, serving as a global platform for the exchange of innovative ideas and practical solutions.

Organizers and Key Contributors

The conferences are organized by:

  • Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU, Russia)
  • Iraqi Scientific Geotechnical Society (ISGS)
  • International Scientific and Engineering Center “IRUCS”
  • Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST, Iraq)

From SPbPU, the organizing and scientific committees include distinguished researchers such as Prof. Nikolai Vatin, Prof. Vitaly Sergeev, Prof. Alexey Borovkov, and Dr. Mohanad Muayad Sabri, President of IRUCS.

Scientific Program and Publications

Participants will present original research on topics including:

  • Digital transformation in civil and geotechnical engineering
  • Sustainable building materials and self-healing concrete
  • Soil–structure interaction and seismic design
  • Advanced energy and environmental systems
  • Smart and eco-efficient construction

Selected papers will be published in internationally indexed journals, including:

  • IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science (EES)
  • Springer Proceedings
  • Scientific.Net (Key Engineering Materials, Materials Science Forum, Solid State Phenomena)

These journals are indexed in Scopus, ensuring that the presented work contributes to the global scientific record.

Global Significance and Vision

This dual event continues the legacy of previous Russia–Iraq collaborations, including the 2023 and 2024 conferences in Baghdad and Karbala. The 2025 sessions will further strengthen partnerships in engineering science, research, and sustainable development — promoting joint innovation and global academic exchange.

Through this collaboration, Frigate LLC and IRUCS reaffirm their shared mission to connect international expertise, encourage scientific advancement, and contribute to building a more resilient, technology-driven future in engineering.
